Sunday @ SMEC

Morning and evening services at 11am and 6pm in the church building and on Youtube

We have adopted a new format for the 2nd and last Sundays of the month which will be to stay after the morning service, have lunch together and then have a service which will conclude at about 2.00pm. This will be instead of having an evening service on those Sundays. Please stay after the morning service for an elongated time of fellowship, worship, sharing and teaching.

In the mornings we sing hymns and songs of worship. There is at least one bible reading, a time of prayer and a message from the Bible. Before the children leave part way through for Sunday Club (School) there is also Family Focus suitable for all ages. The evening follows a similar pattern but without Family Focus or Sunday Club.

We love to sing hymns and songs, new and old, which reflect the whole range of Christian truth and experience. We rejoice in God because He is loving and merciful and we reverence Him because He is holy and exalted. Music is from our digital piano and is sometimes accompanied by other instruments like flute and guitar.

The words of songs and hymns and other service details are projected onto a screen above the pulpit, but there are song books available if these are preferred.

In general terms, the preaching and teaching of God's Word is expository, that is, the aim is to open up, explain and apply the Scriptures to the hearer, with God's enabling and help. Sermons are usually half an hour long.

On Sunday morning we have a creche facility for the very young and Sunday Club (School) (link) for school aged children.

After the morning service we don't rush off (unless it can't be helped!) but stay a little while to have some simple refreshments and chat. If there are any particular prayer needs we're very happy to pray in private with anyone who requests it.

Communion or The Lords' Supper

Every first Sunday morning and every third Sunday evening of the month the Lord's Supper is observed at the end of the services. All who trust in Jesus alone for their salvation may take apart, but those who can't say that Jesus is their Lord are very welcome to be present and observe.

Sunday Club

The Sunday morning programme is now much more action-packed with songs, quizzes, puzzles, varied activities, bible stories and relevant teaching to the age of each child who attends. We believe the Bible is God's word and has a huge amount of practical, relevant, moral teaching for today, as well as containing God's message of personal salvation and how we can know him.
